Learning How to Make Web Pages Accessible

Did you know there are legal requirements for the accessiblity of University web content? Did you know that making web content accessible to disabled users makes it more accessible for everyone else?

Barbara Moore of Information Technology and Christine Hayes of the University Library are offering a training session on "Making Accessible Web Pages" from 1-4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 and Friday, Dec. 9 in Schulz 2010. This three-hour training covers the basics of web accessibility, including why accessibility is important, applicable laws and policies, Section 508 standards, and how to test and repair pages.

Those who should attend this training include faculty who put course materials on the web, employees who maintain school, department and program Web sites, and students who maintain club, fraternity and sorority pages.
