@ Workplace

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month

The campus has four ADA Coordinators who work to ensure the campus community is meeting its responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and are available to the the campus community for questions or concerns. Exciting advances in assistive technology have changed the way individuals with disabilities are accommodated in the workplace and in educational settings. Voice Recognition Software, such as Dragon Naturally Speaking, allows users to create and edit documents, reports, spreadsheets, and e-mail - all by voice. For users who are unable to navigate a computer using their hands, alternatives such as the HeadMouse Extreme are available, which translates the movements of a user's head into directly proportional movements of the computer mouse pointer. For complete hands free navigation of the keyboard and mouse, options such as the Smart-Nav AT Package provides hands free navigation and input by simply moving your head to control your computer.
