Come Carve a Pumpkin With Sonoma SERVES

The Sonoma SERVES AmeriCorps program of the California Institute on Human Services at Sonoma State University has just begun its 8th year working in partnership with the Southwest Santa Rosa community to support children and families.

Sonoma SERVES is partnering with the Roseland, Bellevue, and Wright School Districts, the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation and State Farm for Pumpkin Days, a very special event where caring volunteers can make a difference by providing every child in the after school programs of seven local schools a pumpkin to carve and take home.

For Pumpkin Days, volunteers are needed to work with elementary school children for one afternoon, helping them to carve their own pumpkin and make a very special memory. Donations of 1,000 pumpkins and cash donations for the purchase of child-safe pumpkin carving tools are also being sought.

Pumpkin carving will take place between 12:30 - 5 p.m. on the following dates: Oct. 26-Roseland, R.L. Stevens, and Wright Elementary Schools; Oct. 27- Sheppard Elementary School; and Oct. 31- Bellevue and Meadow View Elementary Schools
