PROFESSIONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Elizabeth A. Burch, Communication Studies and Diane P. Ashton, Educational Leadership and Special Education, have been awarded Fulbright Scholar grants to finance their upcoming research during the 2005-2006 academic year. Burch will conduct research entitled “Reporting on Health and the Environment: Constraints on Journalists” at the University of the West Indies at Mona, Kingston, Jamaica. Ashton is researching special education at the University of Namibia at Windhoek. The title of her project is “Supporting Inclusive Education in Namibia.”
Anita Catlin, Nursing, has been named as one of six ELNEC-Graduate Award Winners by the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing for her impact on teaching graduate-level nursing students about palliative and end-of-life care. Catlin will be honored during the opening ceremony of the annual AACN Masters Education Conference, February 16, 2006 in San Antonio, Texas.
Elizabeth C. Martínez, CALS and Modern Languages, published an article entitled, "Turning the Page on Mexican Women," in the November issue of the magazine "Americas," published by the United Nations in Washington, D.C. Her article is on the life and literary contribution of Rosa Nissan, a Mexican writer of Sephardic-Jewish background.
