Farewell Breakfast For Amra Stafford
Amra Stafford, Coordinator of the Office of Community Based Learning, has accepted a new position with the California Campus Compact as Senior Program Coordinator. Amra has been with the OCBL for nearly five years. During that time, community-based learning -- from service-learning to community-based research -- has gained more visibility on campus in large part due to Amra’s efforts and commitment. Please join us in wishing Amra farewell and much success in her future at a breakfast in her honor at the Multipurpose Room, Student Union, on Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 9-11 am. For more information, contact Elaine Sundberg at 4-2215.
Retirement Party for John Griffith, Dec. 13
General Services is hosting a retirement party for John Griffith on Dec. 13, 4-6 p.m. in the Commons. Griffith dedicated 25 years to SSU and will retire Dec. 23 as manager of Mail Services. He is a living legend at SSU. Twenty-five years ago, there was just Stevenson and Darwin Hall and "a ton of mail." Griffith is responsible for the flow of mail throughout SSU which consists of 100 departments, 1400 staff/faculty, and 2200 students. He accomplished all this while raising his daughter Chelsea, who made him a proud grandfather. Griffith will be spending this spare time with his wife Rita travelling, golfing and maybe a little fishing. Colleagues says they are "forever grateful for his dedication and guidance."
