Campus Community Invited to School
Retreat on Cultural Competence, March 10

The School of Social Sciences will hold a retreat on cultural competence from 9:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on March 10 in the multi-purpose room in the Student Union. Because interest is so high, Dean Elaine Leeder has decided to open it to the campus community.

The morning begins with a workshop facilitated by Dr. Richard A. Rodriguez a well-established expert in multicultural training and former SSU Director of Counseling. Then a panel of students from many different backgrounds will share some of their SSU experiences regarding issues of race and ethnicity. A working lunch follows. Afterwards, a group of faculty who are trained and practiced in culturally competent pedagogy will facilitate a panel. There will be discussion throughout. RSVP by Feb. 24 to connie.lewsadder@sonoma.edu ( 4-2112). Registration is limited so plan to respond ASAP.
