Expanding Your Horizons - Volunteers are needed for the Saturday, March 18, Expanding Your Horizons Conference at SSU from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Shifts range from one hour to the entire day. The EYH Conference encourages seventh and eighth grade young women to take mathematics and science courses so that they have more educational and career choices when they graduate from high school. NASA Astronaut Dr. Ellen Ochoa is the featured speaker. To find out more about the conference go to www.eyh-soco.org. Undergraduate Research Grants - Funds are available to support several additional undergraduate research grants this semester. The maximum award is $500 per grant. “An Introduction to the National Science Foundation” - The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is presenting a workshop on Friday, March 10, at 1 p.m. in Schulz 3001 for faculty pursuing National Science Foundation funding. This event features a panel of SSU faculty with experience acting as principal investigators or co-principal investigators for NSF grants. Distinguished Alumni - The Alumni Association is accepting nominations through March 31 for its 2006 Distinguished Alumni Awards. Excellence in Teaching - Nominations for the annual Excellence in Teaching Award are being accepted until March 10. Anyone in the SSU community may nominate an instructor.
