Professional Announcements

The recent book published by Elizabeth C. Martinez, CALS/ML&L, has been named a finalist in the annual award for best translation of a foreign work by the Center for Art in Translation in San Francisco. Martinez also published a review essay on "Postmodern Cross-Culturalism and Politicization in U.S. Latina Liteature: From Ana Castillo to Julia Alvarez" in the recent issue of the Journal for the Society of Multi-Ethnic Literatures in the U.S.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee held the 2005-06 "Professor Appreciation Award" ceremony at halftime of the recent men's basketball game recently to honor faculty who had been deemed outstanding educators and supporters of student-athletes.

Professors who received the award include: Mike Ezra, AMCS; Vincent Richman, Business; Judith McClarin, Chemistry; Maitreya Hawthorne, English; Steve Winter, Kinesiology; Julie Bonds, Math; Jerry Morris, Math; John Dunning Jr., Physics; Kevin McLin, Physics; John Kramer, Political Science; and Glenn Brassington, Psychology.

Walter P. Leonard, General Services, is currently serving as the 4-H Avian Science Resource person for Sonoma County.
