"Wikipedia Exposed: Uncovering its
Promises and Perils" in March 30 Program
Wikipedia seems to pop up everywhere one looks: in the news, on the web, and, perhaps, most relevantly, all through student papers. But what exactly is Wikipedia and why has it become one of the web's most contentious, yet popular sites? The University Library will host a information program called "Wikipedia Exposed: Uncovering its Promises and Perils" at noon on March 30 in Schulz 3001.
Join other colleagues in discussing such “hot” questions as: Why do or don’t you allow students to use Wikipedia? Why do you think Wikipedia has caused such as stir? Do you love it or loathe it? Is Wikipedia the future? What is Wikipedia's role in academia? How do you instruct your students about Wikipedia? For more information contact Erin Bower in the University Library, 4-2564
Commencement 2006 Now on Web
A full Commencement 2006 website is now available from the SSU home page in the Focus section. The Graduates Handbook at this site is a particularly good source of information. Any staff or faculty who has a Commencement badge send it via campus mail (ASAP) to LouAnn Seaman in IT who is the Commencement Monitor Coordinator again this year. It looks as though not all badges used last year were returned and they are needed for distribution again this year.
