Forum on New Center for Gender and Cultures

The staff of the Office of Campus Life, Student Union and ASI is hosting an open forum to discuss the newly created Center for Gender and Cultures and other Student Life centers from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 in the multi-purpose room of the Student Union. Many on campus have recently expressed concern about the status of the InterCultural Center, the Women's Resource Center and support and programming for Gay-Lesbian-Transgender-Queer students with the restructuring of these areas in the Center for Gender and Cultures.

Questions have arisen about where this new center will be housed; how programming will be supported for these three distinct groups; how the reorganization will impact the Diversity Lecture Series, the ICC Gallery, the annual Unity through Diversity, Women's History, various ethnic history month celebrations, and the SAFE peer mentor program.

"The aim of this meeting is to have the opportunity for us to share our vision, our plans for implementation and answer any questions or concerns that the campus has as we move forward with this exciting new transition," says Bruce Peterson.

"The Green Bird"THE GREEN BIRD, an 18th century fairy-tale comedy for children and adults alike, opens in Evert B. Person Theatre on April 6 and runs through April 13. Written by Carlo Gozzi, the play is a story of twins (above, Jacob Woolman and Morgan Voellger) who flee their foster parents in search of their true parents. It also includes a talking giant, a beautiful female statue that comes to life, singing apples and dancing waters. And, of course, the Green Bird.
