Max and Mortiz on Stage in German
This week, a classic work of German literature will be performed by "theater der jugend paderborn" from Germany. German actors Stephan Rumphorst and Dieter Bolte will perform a slapstick comedy show of "Max und Moritz" (directed by Franz-Josef Witting), a hilarious piece of children's literature well-known in German-speaking countries. Show times are 1 p.m., Thursday, April 6, in the Multi-Purpose Room, Student Union, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, in the Evert B. Person Theatre.
Audience members do not need to know German to enjoy the show, and they can learn more about the author, the story, and the particular time in German history through an exhibit about "Max und Moritz" in the InterCultural Center. SSU German students in their fourth semester designed and created the exhibit to provide information to those who are not familiar with the story. The shows and the exhibit are sponsored by the SSU German Club, Associated Students, and the Department of Modern Languages and Literature. Admission to the shows is free. Everyone is invited.
