BFA Exhibition 2006Roxanne Urry's ceramic two-headed sheep is part of the Bachelor of Fine Arts Show now on view at the University Gallery. The show runs until April 23 and features of the work of students in the Art Department who are graduating this spring with their Bachelor of Fine Arts, an advanced degree requiring an additional year of focused study in their chosen medium. This year's exhibition features the work of Michele Bottaro (painting), Emily Martin (printmaking), Portia Sanborn (photography), Matt Slocum (sculpture), Roxanne Urry (large ceramic sculpture), and Jesse Weiss (drawing and printmaking). Selling and Collecting Art?
The University Art Gallery in collaboration with the Community Foundation of Sonoma County presents Art & Conversation, a three-part free discussion series for artists and others curious about business of making, selling, and collecting art in Sonoma County. The first of three lectures takes place from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18 in the Commons. "State of the Arts" is an overview that includes a panel with a critic, an artist, a collector, and a curator: Colin Berry, contributing editor of Artweek magazine; Chris Finley, artist and professor at CCA, SFAI, and UCLA; Steve Oliver, collector and Chairman of the Board, SFMoMA; and Renny Pritikin, Director, Richard L. Nelson Gallery and Fine Arts Collection, UC Davis.

THE ART OF SHOWING AND SELLING: SONOMA COUNTY VENUES takes place on Tuesday, May 2, 6-8 p.m., and features guest speakers Andrea Hibbard, owner, A Street Gallery, Santa Rosa; William O’Keeffe, artist and owner, O’Keeffe Gallery, Sebastopol, and Patricia Watts, Chief Curator, Sonoma County Museum.
WHAT’S NEXT?: "PREPARING FOR A CAREER AS AN ARTIST" is the final discussion of the series, and takeS place on Tuesday, May 16, 6-8 p.m. Panelists include Ray Beldner, Artist and Assistant Professor of Art, Saint Mary’s College, Moraga; Catharine Clark, owner, Catharine Clark Gallery, San Francisco; and Bob Nugent, Artist, Santa Rosa.
A question and answer period will follow each discussion, and the audience will have the opportunity to greet panelists at a light reception immediately following each event.
