Herron and Hirshfield Poetry Reading Benefits Sonoma County Book Festival
Elizabeth Herron and Jane Hirshfield will share their poetry in Bruce Johnson’s Poetry House Sculpture at Paradise Ridge Winery on Thursday, August 17 from 5-7 p.m. to benefit the Sonoma County Book Festival. Former Poet Laureate Terry Ehret will introduce the poets. Fine wines and hors d’oeuvres will enhance the evening.
Herron, Professor of Arts and Humanities, is a published poet and fiction writer. Herron's published work includes three collections of poems - Desire Being Full of Distances, Language for the Wild, The Stones the Dark Earth, Report (a chapbook), and a book of short stories, While the Distance Widens.
Jane Hirshfield is the author of Nine Gates: Entering the Mind of Poetry and has also edited and translated The Ink Dark Moon: Poems by Ono no Komachi and Izumi Shikibu, Women of the Ancient Court of Japan with Mariko Aratani and Women in Praise of the Sacred: Forty-Three Centuries of Spiritual Poetry by Women.
