Arts and Humanities Receives Gift

John and Jean Nelson have provided Sonoma State University with sufficient stock to establish the Nelson Family School of Arts and Humanities Dean's Discretionary Fund. The fund will underwrite on a rotating basis an annual student art exhibit in the Art Gallery and every other year, a student theater performance. This is the second gift provided by the Nelson family. The first gift provided for a fully endowed scholarship to an Arts and Humanities student, with the remainder of the gift to benefit the School of Arts and Humanities by placing the funds in an unrestricted dean's discretionary fund.

Annual Charitable Campaign Kick-off Oct. 18

Laurie OggIt is once again time to kick off the California State Employee Charitable Campaign through which SSU employees have the opportunity to make an impact in the community.  "Last year, the campus was able to provide support to over 75 different agencies and we hope to equal that again this year," says organizer Laurie Ogg. "We hope the campus community will take advantage of this opportunity to learn how non-profit organizations serve our community."

This year there will be two opportunities for the campus at large to learn more about the CSECC. The Campaign will kick-off with a continental breakfast for department representatives at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18 in the Terrace Room. Two non-profit agencies and the Loaned Executive from United Way will be making presentations that same day from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and again from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in the Terrace Room. Department representatives who have not received an invitation, or those seeking further information, should contact Ogg at 4-2261.

See the CSECC Web site for more information about this year's campaign.
