math treeMath Dept Takes Holiday Decorating Honors

Mary Beth Hull and the Math Department took top honors in the annual campus holiday door and cubicle decorating contest in December. Hull spread the holiday cheer not only at the doorway but through the office as well to impress the judges. Second place went to the School of Education and third prize went to Sonoma State Americcan Language Institute. Honorable mention went to the Academic Senate office.

 


Changes Announced to CSU Travel Policy

The CSU Travel Policy has been revised effective Jan. 1, 2007, reports Gloria Ogg, Senior Director for University Business Services. The full text of the CSU Travel Policy will be updated on the Customer Services Web site shortly. Key revisions include: 1)  Meal allowances have been increased to $10 for breakfast, $15 for lunch and $25 for dinner for a total of $50 per 24-hour period. 2) Mileage reimbursement rate has increased to 48.5 cents per mile. 3) A section has been added to address exceptions to meals provided at conferences, conventions, and workshops. These changes are for travel occurring on or after January 1, 2007. Questions should be referred to Customer Services, customer.services@sonoma.edu.

Logsdon Grant Requests Can Be Made Through
Feb. 28 for Student Services Professionals

Announcement of this year’s Ronald O. Logsdon III Professional Development Fund Grant winners will be made public in March. Applications are now available and proposals are due in the Scholarship Office, Salazar 1010, by 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 28. Logsdon, graduate and long-time staff member of the University and former President of the Alumni Association, was "a unique and giving individual who made SSU his main focus for much of his life," says Scholarship Director Laurie Ogg. His commitment to SSU, its staff and students lives on through the Ronald O. Logsdon III Professional Development Fund Grant. He established this fund to provide professional development leaves-with-pay or awards for permanent or probationary Student Services Professionals (Steps I-IV) working at SSU. New Student Assistant Sign-ups for Spring Semester

Additional student assistant sign-ups will be held at 10 a.m. on Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and 14 in the Administration and Finance office on the second floor of Salazar Hall for students hired for the spring semester. Sign-ups will continue to be held every Thursday at noon. Students are required to bring a Student Employment Form (SEF) and appropriate ID to satisfy I-9 requirements. For additional information and sign-up forms visit the student sign-up Web site. Special sign-up arrangements are available for those students who cannot attend a scheduled sign-up session or in the case of emergency hires. Phone 4-3278 to arrange a date and time.
