CSU Trustee Carol Chandler made the rounds of the campus this week and paid a special visit to the Wine Business program. Playing host, above, were School of Business Dean James Robertson (right) and Wine Business Program Director Mack Schwing. Chandler spent the day meeting with students, faculty, staff and administrators and has special meetings about teacher preparedness and the faculty-staff housing project.
"Access To Excellence" Plan
Seeks Campus Conversation
on Feb. 22
The Board of Trustees of the California State University has embarked on process to develop a strategic plan for the CSU, entitled "Access to Excellence,"...to establish specific program objectives, set priorities, and guide resource allocations over the next several years."
In consultation with the Executive Committee of the Academic Senate, the SSU campus conversation is on Thursday, Feb. 22. The Steering Committee is interested in input and ideas on how the CSU can advance its mission of providing access to and achievement of high quality education. 21st Annual CSU Student
Research Competition Back Again
Faculty are urged to recommend outstanding students who are engaged in undergraduate or graduate scholarly research and creative activity to apply for the 21st annual CSU Student Research Competition to be held May 4 and 5 at CSU Dominguez Hills. Eligible are current undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni who received their degrees in spring, summer or fall 2006.
Student participants from all disciplines will make oral presentations before juries of professional experts from major corporations, foundations, public agencies, and universities in California. Limited funding is available to help pay for the cost of participating in the competition and cash awards are given to competition winners. Completed applications must be submitted to David Hartranft in Academic Affairs no later than Friday, March 9. Application forms are available from the Academic Affairs office, Stevenson 1041, 4-2237.
