In an ongoing effort to divert hazardous wastes from the solid waste stream and ultimately the landfill, Environmental Health and Safety has enhanced its efforts to capture as much waste that batteries generate on campus as possible. Review material found at http://www.sonoma.edu/ehs/hazard/BattCollect.pdf to become familiar with the methods of collection available on campus.
Those who generate wastes such as batteries, electronics and other materials at home are encouraged to recycle them within their community by identifying participating stores such as Radio Shack and others that will accept the materials. Please do not add them to the campus waste stream, asks Craig Dawson, Director of Environmental Health & Safety/Utilities. For further information, contact Dawson, 4-2932.
