Awards for Advancement in Accessible Technology Initiative
To celebrate the hard work and accomplishments in implementing the Accessible Technology Initiative and Ensuring Access through Collaboration and Technology programs at SSU, members of the campus' EnACT program were recently rewarded during the annual California State University Northridge Conference on Technology and Persons with Disabilities.
Scott Kupferman received the ATI Champion Award for his individual work on enacting the Accessible Technology Initiative on campus. Emiliano Ayala, Project Director; Brett Christie, Project Coordinator, Faculty Development; James Fouche, Project Coordinator, Accessible Instructional Media; and Janet Hardcastle, Administrative Specialist received the ATI award nomination for "Best Practices in Training and Communication."
Initiated in 2005, EnACT trains faculty in the principles and implementation of Universal Design for Learning providing them with the skills, support and training necessary to ensure that students with disabilities receive a high quality post-secondary education. EnACT has been effectively implemented at eight CSU campuses, with additional campuses adopting EnACT training and resources through the CSU Faculty Development Council.
