Final Campus Forum — Financial Briefing

In the last Campus Forum of the semester, CFO and Vice President for Administration and Finance Larry Furukawa-Schlereth presents an overview of the financial topics listed below. The Forum takes place on Monday, May 19 from noon-2 p.m. in Schulz 3001.

Faculty Sought for International
Student House Committee

A working committee chaired by Chuck Rhodes will convene this summer to begin the process for potentially implementing a campus International Student House beginning in the Fall of 2009. Initial research has indicated that the most successful international living programs are those built around an academic theme or department and comprised of students who have obtained sophomore level or above. Interested faculty members are encouraged to contact Chuck Rhodes, chuck.rhodes@sonoma.edu, to share ideas or participate in the planning process.

BIG Read Mini-Grants
Available for "To Kill A Mockingbird"

The Big Reads Project of Sonoma County 2008 will be reading "To Kill a Mockingbird." Teachers, schools, arts and community organizations and others are invited to participate in the mini-grant project. Applicants with creative projects that encourages the reading of "To Kill A Mockingbird" are also encouraged. The Big Read Sonoma County will award $5,000 in small grants ranging from $50 - $500. Elaine Bundesen
Passes Away

Elaine Bundesen, known as a master at recruiting prospective students to SSU when it was a small rural campus in the early years passed away on April 19 in Petaluma. Bundesen held positions in the Office of Admissions and Records and had over 25 years of service at Sonoma State College/University. She later earned her MA degree in Counseling at SSU in 1974. Bundesen was part of a small group of women whose  activities, beginning with a lecture series called Pandora's Box, helped to form the early stages of the Women's Studies program. She was a beloved colleague and known for her fun loving, smart and generous nature. A celebration of Elaine's life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 at Graziano's Ristorante in Petaluma.
