Taylor Runs for Cancer Research
Payroll
Technician Erin Taylor (pictured at right with husband Shawn) is seeking
donations for her role in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life which
takes place on Aug. 2. Her "Reason to Relay" is to join people
around the world in celebrating those who have survived cancer, remembering
the people who have been lost, and supporting the lifesaving mission of
the American Cancer Society.
Taylor is walking to remember her Uncle Jim who lost his battle with prostate cancer as well as honor her family members and friends who have beaten the disease.
To make a donation for Taylor's walk or to join her team visit Relay for Life.
The official "count" night is on July 22, but donations are
taken up until the day of the event.
McGowan Dashes for Leukemia, Lymphoma
Amanda
McGowan, Common
Management System Academic Advisement and Transfer Credit Lead, is training
to run the half-marathon at the Nike Women's event on October 19 in San
Francisco for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as a participant in their
Team In Training program. She has set a personal goal to raise $2,500 toward
this effort and is seeking donations from the campus. More than 75% of
the donation goes directly to research and patient service. Those who wish
to donate can do so at Team
in Training.
Leukemia and related cancers strike thousands of Americans each year and acute leukemia is the number one cause of death for children under the age of 15. In addition to donating directly, staffers can also participate in Mary's Pizza Shack Dine and Donate event on July 22 at the Rohnert Park location for Amanda's team. E-mail her at Amanda.mcgowan@sonoma.edu for a copy of the flyer that allows 20% of the check to go to her Team in Training.
