Second Annual Big Brain Bash Trivia Event Tonight

Big Brain BashThe University Library is excited to announce its second annual Big Brain Bash Trivia Event tonight from 7-9 p.m. on the second floor of the library. The evening consists of several rounds of brain-thrilling trivia, concluding with prizes for the top three teams. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to join in on the fun. Come either in teams of 3-6 people, or form a team at the door.

Cycling for MS

WAVES TO WINE RIDE FOR MS CURE- Greta Vollmer (left) and Cathy Kroll (center) and riding together in the Bike MS: Waves to Wine Ride in Sonoma County on Sept. 13-14. This two-day bike ride isn't a race, but a fundraiser for the race to find the cure for multiple sclerosis. The two English professors are riding to support colleagues on campus who are battling the disease and hope that the support of the campus community will help them reach their fundraising goal of $800. Visit their online fundraising Web sites at the MS Society home page to make a donation. Contributions to them can be sent in care of the English Department, NH 362. Checks should be made payable to the National MS Society with the riders’ name mentioned.

Special Webinar on Academic Fundraising

Offered to Campus Community, Sept. 11

Much of what a University program is able to accomplish depends not only on general funds but also on the success of fundraising efforts. A special webinar on academic fundraising is on Thursday, Sept. 11 from 10-11 a.m. in Stevenson 1034. The event is hosted by University Development.

Participants will learn:
° new fundraising strategies to increase dollars raised
° suggestions for establishing a rapport with donor prospects
° clear steps for outlining the solicitation process
° how to create a framework for managing gifts

The presenter is Marcy Heim, former Senior Director of Development for the University of Wisconsin Foundation. She has more than 20 years of experience. Space is limited. To RSVP. send an e-mail to development.office@sonoma.edu

A New Partner That Rocks the Vote for Election 2008

Rock the voteRock the Vote is an organization committed to helping young people find and assert their political power, and the SSU Bookstore is excited to be part of their effort this semester. Together, Rock the Vote and the Bookstore are giving the campus community the opportunity to support youth voting with graphic t-shirts bearing the organization’s logo "Rock the Vote." Men's and womens's t-shirts can be purchased directly at the bookstore or on SSU Bookstore. Two dollars of every sale will go directly to Rock the Vote to support their programs mobilizing and engaging young people to register to vote and hit the polls in November.
