GREEN MUSIC CENTER

Construction Update as of October 1, 2008

CONCERT HALL

Cedar and stone work highlight the exterior of the west and south sides of the concert hall. An outdoor balcony on the south side (above the paneled-wall that opens) is complete and will offer visitors a spectacular view before and after performances. As fundraising to complete the interior continues so does the construction on the heart of the concert hall.

The wood floors and stage are completely installed and have been sealed and protected. The balconies, choir loft and upper levels of walkways are revealing their beauty. Most windows and doors are installed including the 52 ft. wide sliding panel-door on the south side of the hall, and the lobby floor will soon be adorned with stone. Watch the latest video or still photos of this spectacular facility.

MUSIC EDUCATION HALL

Over two hot weeks in August, music faculty moved into the offices in the building. Now classrooms, labs and practice rooms are in constant use, filled with students eager to learn and perform.

In the never-empty lounge on the second floor of the building, students can be found studying, writing music and in deep discussion with their classmates. As you enter the hall your ear will key into the music emanating from the numerous practice rooms; it might be piano, saxophone, vocals or violins but whatever the instrument, the building resonates with music.

SCHROEDER'S RECITAL HALL

Once complete, Schroeder's will be very much like a European cathedral, with a high ceiling and shaped walls. The rooms connecting Schroeder’s with Music Education Hall are in the process of completion and include ensemble and practice rooms.

HOSPITALITY CENTER

The work continues with the hospitality center design company to create a contemporary elegant space for dining and special events.

The hospitality center includes the dining area and executive conference center and is anticipated to open in Spring 2009.
