2008 DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARDS BANQUET
Community Members Honored at Annual Event
The 2008 Distinguished Alumni Awards Banquet will honor five community members for their achievements, at the Doubletree Hotel in Rohnert Park, 5:30 p.m. on Thurs., Oct. 23.
Myrna Goodman, Director of the Center for the Study of the Holocaust and Genocide, will be presented the Distinguished Faculty Award. Goodman coordinates the Holocaust Lecture Series, is the faculty adviser for the Human Rights Club, and teaches an upper-division class on the sociology of genocide.
Julie Dinkins, Access Services Manager for the University Library, is the recipient of the Outstanding Staff Award. Dinkins, an SSU graduate, is commended for her many dedications to the University Library.
Duane Hill, the retired creator of the Rural Communities Housing Development Corporation (RCHDC), will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award for his 33 years with RCHDC. Hill, who graduated from SSU in 1978, led the RCHDC to become the largest nonprofit affordable housing developer in rural Northern California.
Donald and Maureen Green are the recipients of the Alumni Community Achievement Award, for their founding grant of the Green Music Center and their overall dedication to community service. Along with being music enthusiasts and animal advocates, the Greens are responsible for creating the Carriage Trade Group, which promotes child adoption in association with the California Department of Social Services.
