Tenn Appointed to Journal’s Editorial Board

Joe Tenn, professor in the physics and astronomy department, has been appointed to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Astronomical History and Heritage. The 16 members of the board represent 13 countries.

Mike Newland Essay Featured on NPR

Staff Archaeologist Mike Newland’s poignant essay, “The Give and Take of Grief,” was recently featured on the NPR segment, “This I Believe.” His story details the emotional loss of his son, and was chosen from more than 50,000 submissions. “This I Believe” is an international writing project based on the 1950’s radio series by the same name. Newland, pictured at right with his daughter, adds his name to a list of contributors that includes Bill Gates, Newt Gingrich, John McCain and Colin Powell.
