Election Central
Associated Students Productions and the Student Union present Election Central, an election night gathering to watch the real-time results of the 2008 presidential and local elections. The event is on Election Day—Nov. 4—at 5 p.m. in the Student Union. Admission is free for everyone.
Those in attendance will witness live results of the election, complete with multiple big-screen televisions, games and refreshments. Each room of the Student Union will be filled with facts and speakers on election-related issues, as well as information on the propositions of the California ballot. Included in the festivities will be a student panel on ballot measures, speakers on American civics and politics, and life-size images of Senators McCain and Obama for photo opportunities.

It Matters! Lecture Series
The University Library and the Political Science Department conclude the pre-election portion of the "It Matters" lecture series with a final presentation on Wed., Oct. 29 at noon in Schulz 3001. Immigration will be discussed by Daniel Malpica and Patricia Kim-Rajal, assistant professors of Chicano and Latino studies.
A post-election debate between President Ruben Armiñana and Press Democrat columnist and blogger Pete Golis will take place Wed., Nov. 5 at noon in Schulz 3001. David McCuan, associate professor of political science, moderates.
