Sidekicks Cycle Camp

The "Sidekicks Cycle" bike camp is returning to SSU in its ninth year, to train children to ride conventional two-wheeled bicycles. The camp takes place in the Fieldhouse from Fri., Jan. 16 through Mon., Jan. 19.

Children with and without disabilities who have experienced difficulties mastering a two-wheeler have had great success achieving that milestone by using the special trainer bikes designed by retired mechanical engineer Richard Klein of losethetrainingwheels.org.

Professional massages are available on campus, starting at just $29 for students and members. More than just a relaxing experience, a massage can aid in stretching, reduce pain and fatigue, and can increase blood flow to muscles.

Annual Holiday Decoration Contest

Discovery Day Unites Ninth Graders, SSU Students

Discovery DayOn Nov. 18, 27 ninth graders from Roseland University Prep (RUP) visited the SSU campus as part of the Discovery Day leadership service-learning class.

The ninth graders were given a campus tour and participated in a student panel discussion led by Outreach. Bruce Peterson’s UNIV 238 students partnered with JUMP students to lead "icebreaker" activities and a campus-wide scavenger hunt. A pizza lunch, sponsored by Provost Eduardo Ochoa, allowed both SSU and RUP students to bond and share their experiences. “These students made me excited about education and I hope that JUMP and SSU can create a lasting relationship in which we not only bring high school freshmen to our school, but college students to their school to volunteer,” said JUMP Study Buddies coordinator Jenna Durney.
