Students Blog About Inaugural Experiences in D.C.

David McCuan, professor of political science, and 12 SSU students are attending President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration in Washington D.C. as part of the “Campaign 2008: The Presidential Inauguration Seminar” Intersession course. Staying in the D.C. area since Jan. 10, McCuan’s students are participating in lectures, site visits, tours, and special events, all culminating on Tues., Jan. 20 as they witness firsthand the swearing in of President-elect Obama. During the course of their stay in the nation's capitol, students are posting about their experiences on a blog hosted by the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. Obama Inauguration Broadcasting Around Campus

As President-elect Barack Obama takes the oath of office on Tues., Jan. 20 at 9 a.m. PST, the inaugural ceremonies will be telecast in multiple locations on campus, including the University Library, Student Union and Salazar Hall.

Streaming live Internet coverage will be available for viewing in Salazar 1061 and Schulz 2016, beginning at approximately 8 a.m. In the Student Union, televisions will be tuned in to the inaugural coverage in the lobby and multi-purpose room beginning at 8 a.m., as well as in the Pub, where coffee will be available for $.50 a cup.
