Spring Convocation to Feature Panel Discussion
The Spring University Convocation takes place Thurs., Jan. 22 in Person Theatre. Refreshments will be served in the lobby at 8:30 a.m., followed by opening remarks by Scott Miller, chair of the faculty, at 9 a.m.
A panel discussion ensues, comprised of Scott Miller, chair of the faculty; President Ruben Armiñana; Eduardo Ochoa, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs; Derek Pierre, Associated Students President; Andy Merrifield, CFA Chapter President; and Lane Olson, staff representative.
Panel members will speak to the questions:
1. What do we know about our current state and about the coming year, and what don't we know?
2. What do we need to do as a campus community to weather this crisis, perhaps even becoming stronger than we are now?
3. What are our strengths, and how can we best use them?
Microphones will be set up in the aisles for audience comments and questions. Convocation will adjourn by 11:30 a.m.
Disability Services Hosting AsTech Lab Open House
For those interested in learning about technology for students with
disabilities, specifically the technology behind the
Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI), Disability Services for Students (DSS) is hosting an open
house of the AsTech Lab.
The open house showcases assistive technologies such as screen
readers for students who are blind, speech recognition for students with
physical disabilities, and text-to-speech for students with learning
disabilities. The AsTech Lab is located within the IT 24-Hour Lab in Schulz 1058.
The open house will be held bi-monthly (see dates below). RSVPs are requested. To RSVP, contact AsTech Lab coordinator Scott Kupferman at 4-4361 or email kupferma@sonoma.edu.
