Twenty-Fifth Annual "Art from the Heart" Valentine Benefit Auction
Sat., Feb. 14 marks the twenty-fifth annual "Art from the Heart" silent art auction and party at the University Art Gallery from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Proceeds from the auction directly benefit the Art Gallery's exhibition, publication, and lecture programs. Free previews of the artwork are on Wed., Feb. 11 from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Thurs., Feb. 12 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Fri., Feb. 13 from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
"Art from the Heart" features modestly priced works of art and other items, such as stays at local inns and hotels, theatre and museum tickets, and bottles of wine, that are sold during a silent auction.
This year more than 100 artists from Sonoma County and across the United States have created original works of art especially for "Art from the Heart" including Chester Arnold, Todd Barricklow, Stephen Galloway, Cynthia Hipkiss, Bob Hudson, Karen Kelly, Kurt Kemp, Tony King, John LeBaron, Judith Linhares, Jann Nunn, Stella Monday, William O'Keeffe, Mark Perlman, Sylvia Seventy, Richard Shaw, Inez Storer, Jennifer Sturgill, Masami Teraoka, Greer Upton, and Shane Weare, among many others.

Vagina Monologues
Sponsored by the Queer Straight Alliance. SSU students Kathryn Pomilla and Danielle Zelisko are directing the campus production of Eve Ensler's"The Vagina Monologues" with special sponsorship by the Queer Straight Alliance. This is the second time SSU is hosting a performance of "The Vagina Monologues". Proceeds benefit violence prevention programs on campus and in the community.
Benefit performances are Fri., Feb. 13 at 8 p.m., Sat., Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. and Sun., Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. in the Cooperage. Tickets for the event are $5 for students, $10 for faculty and staff, and $15 for general admission. For tickets visit the Student Union, or call 4-2382. Pirates of Penzance
The comic opera, The Pirates of Penzance, by Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert, is a delightful romp that revolves around a young man's sense of duty, a tenderhearted band of pirates and beautiful young maidens.
Over a seven-performance run at the Evert B. Person Theatre, audiences travel to the coast of Cornwall at the time of Queen Victoria's reign.
Opening night is Fri., Feb. 20, with a 7:30 p.m. curtain. The run concludes on Sun., March 1. For tickets to this classic tale, contact the Center For Performing Arts Box Office at 4-2353. JUMP's Plastic Bag Campaign
As part of the second annual "Plastic Bag Campaign" all members of the SSU community are encouraged to bring in at least ten plastic bags in exchange for a reusable canvas bag, donated from a variety of stores. Sponsored by JUMP, the campaign collected more than three cubic feet of plastic bags last year.
All plastic bags are donated to Evergreen Elementary School for their recycling program, from which they receive funding. The event takes place Mon., Feb. 23-Fri., Feb. 27 in the JUMP office, located on the first floor of the Student Union.
