Promoting Classroom Civility and Working with Disruptive Students
Cynthia Desrochers (left), Director of the CSU Institute for Teaching and Learning, leads this discussion on classroom civility. The erosion of classroom decorum is a shared concern among colleges nation wide. What constitutes uncivil behavior? Why do incivilities occur? How might we define expectations of both instructors and students at the outset? Comments and questions like these have been seen increasingly in higher education publications over the last decade. Because faculty and students are partners in the creation of classroom climate, it is important to discuss together expectations for classrooms. Join the discussion on Fri., Feb. 20 from 12:30 p.m.-2 p.m. in Schulz 2019, to share, listen and better understand both sides of this story. Registration for this session is requested.
