- Anonymous

According to Sam Youney, Director of Landscaping Services, there is a minimum of 82 species of trees on campus. There are dozens of kinds of eucalyptus and redwood trees, and more than thirty kinds of acers and maples. The most prevalent species is that of the redwood tree. There are many varieties of redwoods on campus, and large numbers of them are planted in blocks. They are not in as many places around campus, says Youney, but are the most abundant species at SSU.

More Rain Ahead, But Water Rations Still Expected

Campus Creek

In the last week, the city of Rohnert Park received 3 inches of effective rainfall according to the city website. Another storm front is expected to bring rain on Saturday and last into Monday, with forecasters predicting up to a half-inch of rain. According to the Press Democrat, the Water Agency is expected to declare a critically dry year on March 1, and call for water rations from 30 to 50 percent in water districts from San Rafael to Windsor. The picture above of the Copeland Creek was taken by Shahram Marivani, network analyst, who says, "I have been going to the creek from time to time to monitor the water level and see the amount of rainfall. Up to about 10 or 15 days ago, the creek was dry but now we have water flowing through it."
