Faculty Exposition of Scholarship and Sponsored Research is March 18
All are invited to the 2009 Faculty Exposition on Wed., March 18 from 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. in the Commons. The Expo provides an opportunity for faculty to share the results of their research and scholarly activities with their colleagues, SSU staff and students, and with the community at large. This event is sponsored by the Faculty Subcommittee on Sponsored Programs, the Professional Development Subcommittee, and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, with support from the Office of the Provost.
Analyzing and Presenting Data Workshop
The Center for Teaching and Professional Development is pleased to offer a new workshop aimed at helping faculty create effective poster and oral presentations. This 1.5 hour session will focus on the critical elements of presentation design, exploring examples of successful posters, and presenting a range of technologies and formats available to enhance the success of presentations.
As a participant, will gain tips on:
•refining and distilling the take-home message of your research
• identifying critical elements to include in a poster
• designing and arranging poster elements
• displaying data, tables, and concept maps
• preparing and presenting supplemental information to complement your poster
• use of a diversity of formats to engage your audience
• services provided by SSU to assist faculty in preparing posters
Participants are also encouraged to bring their own posters for review and discussion, either on a laptop, as hard copy, or on a USB drive. The workshop is presented by Brett Christie, director of the Center for Teaching and Professional Development (CTPD) and Caroline Christian, environmental studies and planning, and CTPD faculty associate.
