Faculty and Staff Invited to Bidnight Madness

photo of student ahtletesDon't forget to RSVP for Bidnight Madness 2009. This year's silent/live auction, dinner and dance is Sat., May 2 in the Seawolf Gymnasium. The bidding battles kick off at 5 p.m., but stick around afterward for live music from Wonder Bread 5. Early Bird tickets are still available at $60 each until April 1, and $75 each from April 2 to May 1. "Women, Islam and Modernity in Soviet Central Asia" Lecture Celebrates Women's History Month

photo of women and children in central asiaThe Department of History and the School of Social Sciences present a Women’s History Month lecture by Adrienne Edgar, associate professor of history at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The lecture, titled "Women, Islam and Modernity in Soviet Central Asia," is Thurs., March 26 from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. in the Student Union Multipurpose Room.

A pioneer in the field of modern Central Asian history, Edgar is the author of "Tribal Nation: The Making of Soviet Turkmenistan." In 2006, the Berkshire Conference of Women Historians honored Edgar for her trailblazing work on gender, religion, and nationalism among the Muslim peoples of the former Soviet Union. This event is open to the public.

Travel Workshop Scheduled for Staff

The annual Customer Services' Travel Workshop takes place in the Cooperage on Fri., March 20 from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Staff will provide an overview of CSU travel rules and regulations. This workshop is intended for frequent travelers and staff who process travel documents for their departments. Please RSVP by March 17 to Lori O'Hara at 4-4299 or Londa Leveroni at 4-2039.
