"For Goodness Sake" Blog Highlights Random Acts of Kindness

The Press Democrat has launched a blog called "For Goodness Sake," which showcases good people, good deeds and good causes. "If you hear anything on the SSU campus that makes you think, "Oh, that's so great/or nice/or amazing, please let reporter Rayne Wolfe know," says Jean Wasp, Media Relations Coordinator. "If someone pays your toll, she want to know. Generosity happens every day."

To share a story, contact Wolfe by email at rayne.wolfe@pressdemocrat.com or by phone at (707) 521-5240, and include pictures if you have any.

To see current postings, visit the blog. "If your item gets mentioned, make sure you make comments to the blog to help her audience grow and to keep this 'good news' idea alive," says Wasp.

Department of Engineering Science Announces Two New GE Area B3 Courses on Technology

There is an ever-increasing need to educate students, irrespective of their majors, about the new scientific and technical fabric of today’s evolving culture, to make them fully educated citizens of the modern society, to give meaning to their new techno-vocabulary and to make them knowledgeable about and comfortable with their new high-tech living environment.

Therefore, with the above objectives in mind, the Engineering Science Department has designed two GE area B3 courses: ES 101A, "Communication in the Digital Age," a 3-unit lecture course, and ES 101B, "Communication in the Digital Age Laboratory," a 1-unit lab course, that will be offered every semester beginning Fall ’09. Course descriptions and more details can be found at the Engineering Science website.
