Ready for Commencement Day?

Andrea Rodriguez-Jereb, Executive Division Special Events Manager, in her office busily preparing for Commencement 2009.
The 2009 Commencement is Sat., May 23. The 9 a.m. ceremony is for the students of the School of Education, School of Arts and Humanities and the School of Business and Economics. The 3 p.m. ceremony is for the students of the School of Science and Technology and the School of Social Sciences.
Commencement is a day to celebrate students' accomplishments with their friends and families. The success of the day depends entirely on the good work of employees of SSU; those people who interact and support students throughout their years at Sonoma State.
The 2009 Commencement keynote speaker is Grammy winning singer, actor, activist and former front-man of punk rock band Black Flag, Henry Rollins. For more information, visit the Commencement 2009 webpage. For more information about commencement speaker Henry Rollins, visit the ASP website.
Share a Student's Graduation Tales with University Affairs
The University Affairs Office is looking for story ideas about SSU's Class of 2008. Do you know of students who are part of a family affair of graduates, e.g., a parent/child combo or assorted siblings or have grandparents who also attended SSU? Did you know of a student who created a one-of-a-kind major? Did they earn multiple degrees or are getting a dream job after graduation? Perhaps they overcame difficult odds getting to college or plan to make their life's work helping others who need a hand?
E-mail these stories to jean.wasp@sonoma.edu and they be will post it to the Graduation Tales web site which will be linked from the home page. Stories may also be passed along to the news media so please include a name, e-mail address and phone number.
