Garden work days are every Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon, as well as many Fridays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. "The children's school often visits us on work days, and the SSU Slow Food club has a section of garden as well," says Lavoipierre.

Additionally, Elaine Leeder, Dean of Social Sciences, is visiting the garden on Fri., Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. to see the progress. The campus community is encouraged to join in on the meeting, and hear about the garden. For additional information, contact Frederique Lavoipierre at lavoipie@sonoma.edu.

Seawolf Gym Officially Renamed "The Wolves' Den"

Wolves Den

The Seawolf Gym has been officially renamed "The Wolves' Den" as the result of an initiative brought forward by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The grand opening of the the gym under the new name was Sept. 10, when the women's volleyball team hosted (and defeated) Cal State Dominguez Hills. New signs now hang above the entrance doors, and a 60-foot "Wolves' Den" banner adorns one wall (pictured above).

"SAAC, as well as the entire athletic department, has been working hard to bring "Seawolf" spirit to the entire campus and community," said Jennifer Russo, SAAC President and a senior on the women's basketball team. "The renaming and opening of The Wolves' Den is a significant step in spreading Seawolf pride across the community as well as revitalizing a competitive home court for SSU teams."

Lunch is served at noon in The Commons, with a welcome from University and Hutchins officials. After lunch, alumni groups will discuss topics of their own choice, followed by a Hutchins Community Reception, featuring a brief presentation on the various components of Hutchins in 2009, cutting of the cake, Open Mic and dancing to the local band, The Crux.
