"Effective Multimedia Assignments: Pathways to Student Success" Workshop

Wed, Nov. 4, 12-2pm

Schulz 2019

Sponsored by the Professional Development Subcommittee

Do you assign multimedia presentations in your classes? If you do you will want to join Sheila Cunningham, Tim Hensel, and Erin Daniels (all from the Library) for an informative workshop on how to make multimedia assignments smoother and more successful for both you and your students. The workshop will cover common issues with multimedia presentations such as format, production, and presentation. They will also get into exciting intellectual concerns around multimedia projects, such as plagiarism and citation in a media world and more. Local resources for helping students to create presentations will be addressed as well.

Helping Out in Hard Times—CA State Employees Charitable Campaign Supports Non-Profits

The Annual California State Employees Charitable Campaign (CSECC) kicks off Thurs., Oct. 29 and runs through Thurs., Nov. 12. SSU annually conducts this campaign, offering faculty and staff the opportunity to contribute to any charitable 501c3 organization they choose. Last year, SSU employees donated more than$30, 000 to support the efforts and services of non-profit agencies. "We hope to continue to grow the efforts of the CSECC at Sonoma State University," says Andrea Rodriguez-Jereb, Special Events Manager.

Employees should look for the CSECC pledge form—delivered after Thurs., Oct. 29. Make any changes and return the form to the appropriate department campaign leader. For additional information contact your department's campaign leader, or Andrea Rodriguez-Jereb in the University Affairs Division at 4-2018 or andrea.rodriguez-jereb@sonoma.edu.

SSU ProWriMo

November is SSU Project Writing Month (SSUProWriMo) in conjunction with thousands of people participating in National Novel Writing Month. SSU faculty, staff and students will be working together to inspire each other to greatness - or at least productivity --this month. Work on any project - poetry, short story, novel, article, monograph, book review, etc. Join other writers at SSU who, in the spirit of National Novel Writing Month, are participating in SSUProWriMo - trying to crank out 25,000 words in the month of November. “We have only one rule: don’t (necessarily) get it right, just get it written,” says Loriann Negri of the Writing Center. Novel writers, academic project writers, poets, dramatists, memoirists and all other writers are invited to participate. An inspirational kickoff party will be Mon., Nov. 3 from noon-1 p.m. in Schulz 3001. For more information or to sign up, visit the Writing Center in Schulz 1103, or contact Loriann Negri at loriann.negri@sonoma.edu or Michelle Jolly at michelle.jolly@sonoma.edu.Commiteed participants, skeptics, doubters and the just-plain-curious are all welcome.
