Jaffe Speaks to SF Zoo's Docent Training Class
Karin Enstam Jaffe, associate professor and chair of anthropology and
linguistics departments, gave a talk entitled "Introduction to Mammal Taxonomy and
Evolution" to 15 docents as part of the San Francisco Zoo's Docent
Training. Completion of the training prepares members of the public to
conduct Zoo-wide tours and speak expertly about all the animals on
exhibit. Jaffe's talk covered classification, evolution and basic
traits of all major mammalian groups, but focused on mammals housed at the
zoo, including giraffe, chimpanzees, and snow leopards.
