eNew Catering Menu to be Introduced in January

Conference and Event Services (CES) is pleased to announce that a new catering menu will be introduced in January. On Tues., Dec. 8, all are invited to the University Club to sample some of the new and exciting products, and enjoy some holiday cheer. The event takes place from 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m. "Looking forward to seeing everyone!" says Patti Sinclair, Associate Director of CES.

Zin Group Establishes $500,000 Scholarship Endowment for SSU Wine MBA Program

Sacramento Valley-based Zinfandel Advocates and Producers has established a $500, 000 scholarship endowment for the Sonoma State University Wine Business Institute’s MBA program to honor the Zinfandel Organization founder Donn Reisen. “Before this generous gesture by the ZAP organization, there had been no scholarships for our students who were studying in the field of wine business, strategy and marketing. This is a real milestone for the program," says Linda Nowak, Executive Director of the Wine Business Institute.

Upcoming Staff Development Workshops

The Staff Development Fall Lecture and Workshop Series continues, with upcoming installments titled "Deep Listening" and "Any Excuse to Write."

Lou Zweier"Deep Listening," a two-part workshop, is presented by Lou Zweier (pictured at right) of the Center for Distributed Learning. Zweier has been a student and practitioner of Non-Violent Communication since 1995, teaching communication and conflict resolution skills. "Deep Listening" is a process for tuning in to what is most important to another person and letting them know you have heard them. In this session, participants will learn about this process, see it demonstrated, and practice it with others. Part 1 takes place Wed., Dec. 2 from noon-1 p.m. in Salazar 2022, and Part 2 takes place Wed., Dec. 9 from noon-1 p.m. in Salazar 2022 (Participants should plan to attend both sessions, as this is a two-part progressive workshop),

Lakin Khan"Any Excuse to Write" is presented by Lakin Khan (pictured at left), administrative coordinator in the biology department. This workshop is for writers, doodlers, scribblers and the like. In an informal setting, participants will free-write to prompts that Khan has collected over the years, and shop-talk the craft of writing. All genres, styles and ages are welcome. This workshop takes place Thurs., Dec. 3 from noon-1 p.m. (location TBA, check the Staff Development Workshop website for updates).
