Upcoming Staff Development Workshops
The Staff Development Fall Lecture and Workshop Series continues, with upcoming installments titled "Deep Listening" and "Any Excuse to Write."
"Deep Listening," a two-part workshop, is presented by Lou Zweier (pictured at right) of the Center for Distributed Learning. Zweier has been a student and practitioner of Non-Violent Communication since 1995, teaching communication and conflict resolution skills. "Deep Listening" is a process for tuning in to what is most important to another person and letting them know you have heard them. In this session, participants will learn about this process, see it demonstrated, and practice it with others. Part 1 takes place Wed., Dec. 2 from noon-1 p.m. in Salazar 2022, and Part 2 takes place Wed., Dec. 9 from noon-1 p.m. in Salazar 2022 (Participants should plan to attend both sessions, as this is a two-part progressive workshop),
"Any Excuse to Write" is presented by Lakin Khan (pictured at left), administrative coordinator in the biology department. This workshop is for writers, doodlers, scribblers and the like. In an informal setting, participants will free-write to prompts that Khan has collected over the years, and shop-talk the craft of writing. All genres, styles and ages are welcome.
This workshop takes place Thurs., Dec. 3 from noon-1 p.m. (location TBA, check the Staff Development Workshop website for updates).
The Staff Development Fall Lecture and Workshop Series is sponsored and paid for by the SSU Staff Development Fund, a foundation account supported by donations from staff.
