Leibinger Clinics, Solos at Jazz Festival in Nebraska

Doug Leibinger, director of jazz studies, traveled to Hastings, Nebraska to serve as adjudicator, clinician and guest artist at the 2010 Hastings College Jazz Festival on April 12.

During the day, he listened to 17 Nebraska high school and middle school bands, and provided each one with a short clinic. In the evening, he played trombone in a concert with the Hastings College Jazz Ensemble and Combo.

The repertoire included several of Leibinger's original big band compositions and arrangements.

Girling and von Meier to Speak at Sustainable Enterprise Conference

Sascha von Meier Professors Alexandra "Sascha" von Meier, environmental studies and planning (left), and Robert Girling, business (below) will be speakers at the upcoming fifth annual Sustainable Enterprise Conference on Fri., May 7 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at Sonoma Mountain Village in Rohnert Park.

SSU faculty and students are being offered a discount for admission to the conference, which is specifically geared towards the needs of enterprises looking to prosper in the North Bay economy in a sustainable and just way.
