TRAINING

Workshops for Professional Development

The Center for Training and Professional Development, in conjunction with the Professional Development Subcommittee, University Library, Instructional Technology Services and the CSU Center for Distributed Learning, offers a series of workshops for all faculty and staff.

Upcoming workshops include:

Adobe Photoshop II, March 4, 1-3 p.m, Learning and Teaching Center - This workshop serves as an extension of Photoshop, Part 1, covering layers and image enhancement

PowerPoint v. PowerPointLessNess, March 6, Noon-1 p.m., Schulz 2019 - No doubt, everyone has seen some great PowerPoint presentations: thoughtful, informative, persuasive, visually compelling. When done right, it's an effective means of engaging an audience. Unfortunately, many have been subject to PowerPointLessNesss - slideshows that are shallow, prefabricated, laden with fancy transitions, sounds, and other effects that have no discernible purpose, use or benefit.

Focusing on (gratuitous) graphics, animations, or sound effects more than course content, classroom discussion or effective communication is a pitfall into which many educators and students fall when using PowerPoint. The workshop offers ways in which PowerPoint can be used most effectively for face-to-face and online instruction.
