Teaching and Technology Session Looks at Emerging Technologies in Higher Ed

Rachel Smith, Director of Special Projects and Publications for the New Media Consortium, discusses a research-oriented effort that seeks to identify and describe emerging technologies likely to have a large impact on teaching, learning or creative expression within higher education from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14 in Schulz 3001. The 2007 Horizon Report is the fourth edition in an annual series that describes six areas of emerging technology that will impact higher education within three adoption horizons over the next one to five years. As a part of this, trends and challenges will be discussed. A copy of the 2007 Horizon Report can be viewed and downloaded for free. Faculty Travel Award Requests Available

The Faculty Subcommittee on Sponsored Program announces the Request for Proposals for 2006/07 Faculty Travel Awards. Only travel that takes place between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007 will be eligible for funding. Total funding available this year is estimated at $10,000 and it is anticipated that individual awards will be approximately $200-$400. Applications are due in the ORSP Office in Nichols 146 no later than Tuesday, March 13 by 4:30 p.m. The RFP and application form are available in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs office or online at the ORSP website.

CSU San Marcos Presents
Queer Studies Consortium

CSU San Marcos is hosting the fourth annual CSU-Queer Studies Consortium meeting April 13-15. The theme this year is "Queering Connections: Campus and Community.” This year’s five main themes explore connections between LGBTQIA students, staff and faculty and campus and local communities: activism in the CSU (in honor of the legacy of Eric Rofes), community connections, campus climate issues, mentorship, and classroom techniques. Proposals have been requested for workshops, teach-ins, and poster sessions addressing pedagogical issues on a broad range of topics in queer studies.
