Get on Board Now
for Seawolf Day

The Office of Admissions and Student Recruitment is hosting Seawolf Day on April 8 as an open-house for all 2006 freshmen admits and transfer applicants. Approximately 4,000 visitors are expected on campus on that day. The purpose of this event is to invite these students and their families to SSU to help them make their decision to attend SSU next fall.

"This is a day that we get to highlight all of SSU's outstanding programs, departments, staff, faculty, and students," says Gina Geck, Office of Admissions and Student Recruitment. "This is a fun day where we'd love to have as much participation as possible from our campus community. This is your chance to show prospective students why SSU should be their first choice!" Departments interested in reserving a table for the campus fair or participating in some other way should contact Geck at gina.geck@sonoma.edu or the Student Outreach Office at 4-3035.

The morning will be filled with workshops put on by the academic schools and student affairs departments. In the afternoon, many areas will be open for tours, campus offices will be open, and a campus fair will be held in the main quad with everything from student clubs, majors, departments and offices. There will also be a DJ and the men's volleyball team will have a net set up.

Due to the limited space in campus facilities, only admitted freshmen and transfer applicants have been invited. It is not open to the public. More information is available at http://www.sonoma.edu/ar/

Language Festival Takes the Stage

Spanish flamenco, German comedy sketches and classic French accordion tunes share the stage at the fourth annual Language Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 on campus. SSU students, high school students and faculty will join together in a cabaret extravaganza in the Cooperage, including musical and dramatic performances in French, German, Spanish, Farsi and Japanese. In between the various numbers, the audience will be entertained by jazz musicians from SSU’s music program.

"It’s so fun to hear people singing in other languages!" says Tamara Bunge, co-president of the Cercle Français, SSU’s French Club, while Spanish professor Tania de Miguel Magro calls it "cultural diversity at its best. Get ready to travel the world without leaving the campus. Who knows, you might end up watching a French student wearing a kimono and singing flamenco in German!"

Admission to the festival is free with the exception of the cabaret, which is $3 at the door. The public is welcome. For further information, contact French professor Suzanne Tocyzski, 4-4177.
