Christine Renaudin, Modern Languages and Literatures, chaired a session and presented a lecture entitled, "Verlaine Across the Disciplines," to the National Association for Humanities Education at its conference in San Francisco, February 28-March 3. The session, entitled "Ekphrastic Gateways to the Humanities," was devoted to original ekphrastic works and their use in Humanities Education in and outside the classroom. Renaudin was invited to submit her paper for publication in Interdisciplinary Humanities.
Lynn Cominsky, Physics and Astronomy, was recently honored as part of NASA's Swift Team, with the Bruno Rossi Award from the High Energy Astrophysics Division of the American Astronomical Society. The Rossi prize is given in recognition of significant contributions as well as recent and original work in high-energy astrophysics and Swift's contributions to the understanding of gamma-ray bursts were cited. Cominsky is a co-investigator, and the lead for Swift's Education and Public Outreach program.
