Kenny Scott New to SSU
As the new Alcohol and Drug Education Program coordinator, Kenny Scott joins SSU staff and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He received his B.A. in psychology from Sonoma State University in 2001 and his master's degree in sport psychology from John F. Kennedy University in 2004. He is a Registered Addiction Specialist and currently runs an in-custody, researched-based, alcohol and drug treatment program for the County of Sonoma.
“The aim of the ADEP here at SSU is to intervene where there has shown to be a problem with alcohol and/or drugs,” says Scott. It is a goal of ADEP to retain students and improve grades and the overall student experience. While the two main referral sources for students are Residential Life and Judicial Affairs, Scott encourages the campus to see the ADEP coordinator as a resource for alcohol and other drug information, concerns or referrals.
