Barbara Moore and Christine Hayes explain each of the Section 508 requirements for web content, demonstrating good and bad examples in HTML, MS Word, PowerPoint and PDF files.

This session focuses on ways faculty and staff can easily, yet significantly, increase the accessibility of their resources, ensuring that all students will better be able to fulfill educational outcomes, says Moore.

Volunteer for No BUTTS Day!

Kick the HabbitCigarette butts are everywhere...little leftovers from someone's smoke break, dropped and forgotten on walkways, in front of buildings, near residential areas, and in the grass. This is why Wednesday, April 18 is "Kick BUTT Day!" The event, organized by the Student Health Advisory Committee and the Student Health Center, runs from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Stevenson Quad.

This year, "Kick BUTT Day" is raising awareness about the thousands of chemicals in each puff of cigarette smoke.  Cigarette smoke contains more than 4,000 chemicals, including at least 69 that cause cancer and many more that are hazardous. Many land and marine animals die annually from mistaking butts for food.

Cigerate Butt"Butt" pick up is done on Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17. If interested in helping, stop by the front of the Student Health Center and pick up gloves and bags for disposal. Each bagis labeled with the location of the discarded butts so the campus see exactly what areas are being cleaned up. The collected butts are part of a display on April 18 in the Stevenson Quad, along with educational activities with prizes. To get involved, contact Toni Boracchia at 4-2927.
