Police promotion ceremony

Police Promotions - Yesterday was a Class A inspection ceremony for Sonoma State University's Police force. All officers lined up in their dress uniforms for the opportunity for Police Chief Nate Johnson, Deputy Chief Roseann Richard and Vice President Larry Schlereth to conduct the full inspection. Promotions were also awarded to Officers Maggie Nunes (front row second from left) and LeRoy Swicegood (front row, third from left). They were promoted to the rank of Corporal.

Captain Kiraly Makes it Easy to Join Human Race

Human RaceLibrary Director of Operations, Mike Kiraly, is spearheading the SSU effort again this year as captain for Team Sonoma State for the 2007 Human Race marathon. Come out to Howarth and Spring Lake Parks on Saturday, May 12 to join dozens of other members of the SSU community — faculty, students, staff, alumni, family and friends — in support of local community programs. The race begins, rain or shine, with registration from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. The run starts at 8 a.m. and the walk starts immediately following the runners. Registration, start and finish lines are at Herbert Slater Middle School, 3500 Sonoma Avenue, in Santa Rosa. Last year, Team SSU was in the top 12 teams in Sonoma County, raising more than $2,500 with 20 staff, alumni, faculty and students participating. 20th Anniversary Has New Ways to Honor Alumni

Distingguished Alumni AwardsThe SSU Alumni Association is seeking nominations for the 20th anniversary of the Distinguished Alumni awards. It is on this occasion that the department has expanded its recognition program. The Alumni Association invites nominations in the following categories:

- Distinguished Alumni Award, presented to Sonoma State University alumni for their outstanding professional achievements, contributions to society and the University.

- Distinguished Alumni Teaching Award, presented to an alumni faculty member in recognition of his or her dedication to teaching at Sonoma State University.

- Outstanding Alumni Staff Award, to recognize exceptional service to Sonoma State University.

- Alumni Achievement Award, to recognize individuals who are not graduates of Sonoma State University but who have made significant contributions to the community. Nominations must be submitted to the Alumni Association by April 30. To submit a nomination, visit the Alumni Association Web site.

Nomination packets may include letters of reference, articles/features, publications, awards, and other supporting documents. Nomination forms may also be picked up at the Alumni Office in Stevenson 1027. For more information, contact Kate McClintock, Director of Alumni Relations, 4-2693.

How to Join Stafflink-L

Stafflink-L is a listserv for SSU employees that was created to enhance communication among staff from all over campus. The forum strives to will help staff and faculty get to know people from outside each of their specific areas and promote a unified feeling among the staff on campus. Appropriate postings for this list include: general questions about campus or campus events, activities, etc.; soliciting solutions to problems encountered on the job, rumor control, organizing activities such as Staff Appreciation Day or the Halloween Party, Union meeting announcements; general announcements; volunteer opportunities; and other things such as carpooling, items to sell or letting others know about having puppies to give away, for example.
