MORE POWER FROM THE SUN - In the early morning hours on Thursday, solar panels were lifted by crane onto the roof top of the the Student Recreation Center. Installation of the photovoltaic system, almost 380 solar panels that generate up to 48-plus kilowatts, is expected to be completed in June. This phase one of the Recreation Center's solar project is being paid for by original student fees collected for the construction of the building and state incentives from the California Energy Commission. The panels are being installed by Chevron Energy Systems.
New Handbook of Free Speech Issues

STEPHANIE'S SOUND CLIP
The
Comforting Click of Chalk on a Blackboard
From antique hit and miss engines and large overhead
cranes to defective ceiling fans and noisy dryers, SoundClips is
an occasional series from All
Things Considered on National
Public Radio that collects the sounds that fascinate the
station's listeners. One of them this week was SSU's biology
tech Stephanie Thibault. Hear her audio
recording of chalk
on a slate chalkboard, a vanishing sound in the nation's
classrooms. This one was from Darwin Hall.
