Darwin Hall Evolves
Some 18 months after the interior and exterior of SSU's Darwin Hall was gutted and then renovated, the staff and faculty of the School of Science and Technology are making plans to move back into their original home after a hiatus spent in the University Library. Moving trucks return to the campus on May 31 with the first of equipment and supplies for newly furnished offices, labs and classrooms. Above, biology instructors Hall Cushman (left) and James Christmann inspect the open ceiling design of the second and third floors of the building during a hard-hat tour several months ago.
Bike to Work Day on Thursday
Sonoma State Police and Parking Services and the Student Recreation Center are getting in on the fun for the annual Bike to Work Day on Thursday. The Bay Area’s 12th annual Bike to Work Day celebration is presented by the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition and 511.org which promotes bicycling as a healthy, fun, and viable form of transportation. Police Services is hosting an Energerizer Station at the main entrance near the flagpoles from 7-10 a.m. The SSU Recreation Center is offering free shower and locker usage to participants all day. From new or leisure cyclists to bicycle hot-shots, organizers say they want to honor "every kind of bicyclist out there" during May, which is National Bike Month. An interesting web page that gives 10 reasons why people don’t think they can bicycle to work can be found at http://bikesonoma.org/Top10Reasons.html
