Increase in Patient Co-Pay is Defeated

The CalPERS Board of Administration has defeated proposals to increase patient co-payments for prescription drugs and emergency room visits. The Board did approve co-pay increases from $10 to $15 for doctors' office visits beginning in January 2008, but it voted to waive any co-payments for preventive care visits. The success in defeating these co-payment increases is due to the efforts of CSEA members in four affiliates, as well as members of other public employee organizations throughout the state. The two past CSEA presidents who serve on the CalPERS board—Bob Carlson and Chuck Valdes—voted against all proposed co-payment increases.

Turn in Student Campus Keys by May 25

Departments are asked to remind students holding campus keys to return or renew their keys by May 25. Campus keys can be returned to Customer Services in Salazar Hall. If a student is continuing to serve a department through the summer, a new key request form must be submitted to Customer Services, signed by the dean or department manager. The form can be found online. The campus key policy allows students to have keys for the period of one semester or summer. Failure to return or renew campus keys results in an administrative hold being placed on students' registration, grades, transcripts, and diploma. These steps are taken to ensure University security.
